How to install a Chrysler 3.6 liter oil cooler
U didn’t show us how to mark the brake line while sitting on the bike??? Smh
Was thinking the same, or even see it
Crappie sound not good waste of time to watch 1:54
Great tip! Thanks. I’ll go and do it.
Thanks for torque values, I was looking for that! Did you consider using aluminum for the replacement?
Is good but to much noise . just do it one more time.
I'm gonna try this today!
I have a 48inch wooden dowel that'll probably work
thank you very much
Too bad about the background noise. Maybe a private room would have been better.
What if you fitted and the pump doesn’t work? Is there anyway to make the torque move in?
make a mark on flex plate and transmission and converter before you remove it ,if you have not moved the shafts or pump in any rotation it will go back in easy , do the same thing with the flex plate before it comes off
When you say get on the bike are you saying that in the mean of sitting on the bike backwards?
Camera men 🧟♂️🧟♂️🤣 Also sounds like a Porno is being filmed 🍆💧
Good info and thanks for the video - but I believe that's how everyone installs a converter ;)
Do you have a video on removing one?
no sorry but after you remove the transmission it should just pull out. Nothing holds it in.
I liked that first pass there , straight line 😂
I couldnt make it to Frackville this year. Thanks for posting, tight and no surprises. Nice lap tho.. No surprises there either just another quality ride from dirtbikistan
Is there a way to confirm damage to the front pump if bolted up without being fully seated? I realized my error and dropped it. Removed the TC and reinserted it and it all seems fine but if I can confirm its ok without disassembling the trans, that would be ideal.
I know this is a old comment but it sounds like you lucked out,if something had happened you would know it in minutes, once the pump is crushed by the converter etc you will have a major fluid leak and some "strange noises" if you start the car
@@dntlss I re-installed everything and drove it 4 miles and my fuel pump gave out. Have had it parked since last fall getting the rest of the suburban together. There is a solid puddle of trans fluid from the bell housing area. It was leaking this bad before I rebuilt it as well. So not entirely sure what the issue is but it’ll have to come back out soon enough. 1996 4L80 on what I did.
@@dntlss It does run but started leaking pretty bad about 2-3 weeks after install.
I have 2003 DODGE RAM VAN with 46RE. I just finished rebuilding the transmission and installed the new torque converter. After I seated the torq converter completely in it measured 5/8" from housing to bolt. However the torque converter only turns 2" to the right or left. I thought it was supposed to spin freely. Did I do something wrong? Please help.
if you remove the torque converter you should be able to spin the input shaft with a set of pliers
@@askcramer500 thank you for your reply. I removed the torque converter and tried to turn the shaft with plyers but only the smaller diameter shaft turns but the larger one doesn't. Thank you for your assistance.
@@jhm8708 the larger shaft is the stator support shaft and it will not spin. just the smallest inside shaft should turn freely.
Желаю вам успехов, чтобы все было хорошо : и ремонт, и диагностика автоматической коробки передач. Привет из Москвы-Moscow.
Welp this isnt quite a driveway project since I gota drop a transmission on a 2003 accord
Solid gold Mike! Cheers
Invaluable Information with "Johnny Rogers " written all over it! Thank you for sharing. And thanks to John's enduro family for keeping his memory alive. Ride on!
This is amazing!
Great video!
Disaster ... You can't hear anything, the noise behind is terrible ...
He was my teacher in 2010 when I used to go to Sypek Center I randomly found this video haha
This is like a Schwarzenegger/Stallone movie.. blood guts and ammo flying everywhere.. well done. Just wish I had passed enuff people for vid. That dual at beginning was sick.
Dave I'm getting ready for rocket
You guys were Smokin !!! The wheelie for the holeshot goes to that guy. Lol.. that pass right at top after bridge crossing was crucial. You never see yama wonder boy if you don't get it. Nice video !
Thanks Dave, exactly what i was thinking "can't let this kid get away from me"
Epic! Love it !
Thanks! 😁
I have 2015 mdx with 145k miles with a bad torque converter. Car shudders between 40mph and 60mph. Should i change the converter now or keep driving like that and rebuild the transmission later? Since the labor is about the same?🤔🤔🤔
This actually what I’m doing to my Jeep. My rear differential blew and I’m replacing my gear but sticking to the 3:73 gears because I’m only running 31s
After 12 seconds I had to turn it off. Sound quality stinks (echo bigtime) plus all the people yakking in the background.
Frame looks like my jeeps frame😂
Ohhh myyyy....... "Buyer Beware" !!!! Great vid for young and old. Not sure if it's even good for a 'farm truck' ..... shame on the seller!!!!!!!!!!
Not worth buying. I don’t know much of anything about buying trucks but I’m sure it’s not worth that much for the condition of the car. Although it was a bit of a jerk move on the seller to not tell the buyer it is the buyers fault for not looking in depth at the car before purchasing.
EXCELLENT!

I think more emphasis on the importance of the placement of the Flywheel should have been addressed. The bellhousing is properly aligned with the centerline of the crank shaft and the flywheel is against the crankshaft (parallel to crank shaft flange). If the flywheel is not properly aligned you'll end up with all the same issues again. In order to get a proper alignment with little runout, I think it's the most important part of beginning the entire installation of the torque converter and will make the install that much easier when you move onto the Bellhousing alignment.
I didn't talk about clutch pressure plate and flywheel alignment because this was a video on properly installing a torque converter in a transmission. The converter gets bolted to a flex plate not a flywheel so i didn't include flywheel info in the video.
The front pump's job is to fill the converter with fluid. It provides the pressure necessary to engage gears. You don't have to "pre-fill" a converter.
Its like packing bearings, you could get a Masters from Harvard or Standford on it and make a RUclips video and people will say you are doing it wrong, some people that are master mechanics absolutely positively swear on filling a converter before running it and some dont, that will never change. like a car battery on the floor, ive had a few old timers when i was younger yell at me "Get that battery of the floor!!!!", that has been debunked thanks to the internet, another one that blew my mind was the crankshaft thing,i have read extensively that in reality you dont have to stand a crank on its end but heck i still do, reason a lot of people do is because it saves space not because it will warp, anyhow, i just think its interesting all the different ways of doing things people have.
Definitely best to prefill to not cause premature wear
@@BLACKEDOUTVIK No need. Like the OP said the pump will fill the converter. There's enough assembly lube in the converter for initial start up. 43 years in transmissions and I have never prefilled a converter and never had a problem.
To much noise
Shouldn't the flywheel be on the outside? I'm confused
The clutch assembly is bolted to the flywheel and the flywheel is bolted to the crankshaft. Both of them turn in concert with the engine crankshaft.
Does anything need fluid/oil, etc when mating the new TC with the transmission?
Does it just sit in the flywheel anyway? I just installed a transmission and when I let off the gas my RPMs drop to idle and I have to hold the gas till the rpms catch back up
Kids shut the fuck up and let the teacher speak 😡
Now i know why my THM350 crashed 30 years ago... i did not go for the second clock or click whatever ....i rocked the converter till the first clock and good to go. WRONG .... .......There was no internet so was difficult to get the info .....
My 1999 Eddie Bauer 4 l shoc , the engine races but the suv moves off only slowly. After a few seconds and picking up speed then it quick in pick up. What should I check?
Thank you!
Do you think just replacing converter on transmission is a good idea? My converter started to leak out fluid in my 2005 Lexus es330!
E dubb 414bound put some gas
How do you know if you have a bad torque converter or if it's even a torque converter in there when you drive cause I'm purchasing a car for dirt cheap with a new trans just don't know about the converter ?
Is it balanced with the flex plate or just bolt up on a jeep xj
flex plates are pretty light and don't need to be balanced usually. the torque converter maybe balanced
@@askcramer500 thank you we're in a process of taking a motor out and didn't really want to mess with the torque converter except for the four bolts in the flex plant ,can the converter be left on the transmission for an extended time without support ?
@@dissociativecat7495 yup leave the converter in the transmission. after you unbolt it push it back into the trans as far as it will go maybe 1/8" and good luck pulling the motor. get a jack under the trans to support so it doesn't go nose down after the engine is separated
Depends on the engine and what you go with. For this Chrysler trans, a 5.2 magnum/LA block is internally balanced and a 5.9 magnum/LA block is externally. Look up engine specs to see which is what on any make engine and how they’re balanced vs what part is used to balance.
